The LOI profiles graduates’ capability for strategic, tactical and operational decision making. This enables organisations to identify their talent early in their careers, accelerate development, and align success plans.
Applications
- graduate recruitment
- matching graduates to roles based on levels of complexity
- succession planning
- identification of leadership potential in the graduate pool
- talent management
- career coaching
Process
Self-administered, web-based simulation exercise with immediate scoring and report sent to a qualified practitioner for feedback.
Overview
The LOI also is an advanced computerised assessment technique designed to profile the thinking processes and styles of graduates and school leavers.
Many organisations are currently experiencing high levels of complexity and uncertainty. This trend is set to increase in the future. Unless organisations recruit and develop people who can perform well in this environment they will find that many of their people begin to de-rail. To address this need the LOI identifies the level of complexity and uncertainty where graduates can currently do their best work, their potential for progression, and their ability to learn.
Using web-based simulation exercises the person is exposed to an unfamiliar, yet fun, problem-solving environment that requires the application of explorative, analytical, structured, integrated, creative, and intuitive thinking.
The LOI moves beyond the static and content-oriented view of intelligence as popularised by IQ tests. Instead of focusing on right or wrong answers to structured information, the LOI measures the application of thinking processes in unfamiliar contexts. More specifically, it measures:
- Cognitive styles (i.e. a person’s general approach to problem solving – particularly in new and unfamiliar situations)
- Cognitive processes / competencies (i.e. the effectiveness of the cognitive processes used to manage tasks)
- Meta-cognition (awareness of thinking processes)
- Learning potential (the capacity of a person to benefit from developmental experiences)
- Work-related levels of complexity
- Judgement for pace control
- Preferred units of information
With a sound theoretical foundation, the LOI has cross-cultural application and generates clear diagnostic indications for placement and development purposes. The LOI is web-based with immediate scoring and report generation.
Please note that the LOI is in the last stage of development and is subsequently being offered free of charge.
