High performing leadership teams are characterised by a high level of ‘connection’ between the team members. Connection is gained through trust, openness, understanding and co-operation. This enables the team members to appropriately challenge and support each other as they co-ordinate their activities whilst working towards a common goal. The approaches we take include:
MBTI® Team Build
Understanding how people work, and helping them understand how their personal style interacts with that of their colleagues, is an essential building block of creating a dynamic team. With more than 3.5 million questionnaires completed worldwide every year and more than 13,000 qualified users in Europe, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) questionnaire is the most widely used personality questionnaire in the world. It is based on over 50 years of research and development, and is available in 19 languages. We use the MBTI , combined with experiential exercises, as a positive way of raising awareness of peoples behaviour and the team dynamics
Appreciative Inquiry
Appreciative Inquiry was developed by David Cooperrider and his team as a process that enables the co-operative search for the best in people, their organisations, and the relevant world around them. It involves the systematic discovery of what gives “life” to a living system when it is most alive, most effective and most constructively capable. This approach will enables a team to identify and celebrate what they do well and what makes them a high performing team. We then draw on these attributes to look forward and create a vision for the team.
Team Coaching
Senior teams often invite us to observe one of their meetings and provide feedback. This is particularly powerful when combined with profiling and coaching each one of the team members.
Gourmet Challenge
Delivered with one of our partners, Food@Work, the Gourmet Challenge is a fun and bonding team cookery experience combined with analysis, development and review of team dynamics. The programme combines theoretical team learning (exploring the foundation of the team dynamics) with the hands-on experience of planning, cooking and sharing a gourmet meal together (seeing the team in action). The kitchen with the team cooking provides the physical metaphor for the workplace interactions of the team, and is used as part of an experiential teambuilding and cookery programme to analyse, assess, review team dynamics and build individual and team interactions, skills and characteristics. On this programme, theory explored in the development sessions is put into practice with the team cooking together in the kitchen.
